Mark Wahlberg hoping to land a big-name director for Caron Butler’s biopic

A lot of NBA stars have amazing life stories. Most of them started with nothing, living in the worst part of their hometowns, sometimes without a parent or even both. Even if most stories are akin to that, some are even more amazing. One such story is that of former All-Star forward Caron Butler.

Butler was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. He began dealing with drugs at age 11 and was actually arrested 15 times before he turned 15 years old. However, his belief in God and passion for basketball turned him from a would-be-wasted life to an accomplished NBA player.

His story touched many, and one of them was Mark Wahlberg, actor and producer of the TV show Entourage. Now, the project he is focused on is the Caron Butler biopic. As TMZ Sports reports, the star actor is looking at some big directors to oversee this movie such as Peter Berg, Spike Lee, and Barry Jenkins.

Wahlberg’s projects are usually successful, and Butler’s story is worth putting on a big stage. This seems like a match made in heaven.

Butler was the 10th selection in the 2002 NBA Draft and has been an All-Star twice. He also has an NBA championship, in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks.
